Shakespeare  and  Stoppard  highlight  Cleveland  Shakespeare  Festival's  Eleventh  Season

The Cleveland Shakespeare Festival is pleased to announce our eleventh season of bringing free, outdoor theater to Northeast Ohio! Our Summer 2008 season will feature, in repertory, Hamlet, by William Shakespeare (directed by Dana Hart), and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, by Tom Stoppard (directed by John C. Davis.)

Mr. Davis will also be the fight choreographer for both productions.

Each production will have its own opening weekend, and then both shows will tour in repertory to three traditional and two brand new venues in various communities across Northeast Ohio over the next five weekends.

The season will run from June 20th through August 3rd. Audition dates and a more detailed production schedule are detailed below.

Presenting these two daring productions in six different venues over seven weekends will make this our biggest, boldest and most widely seen season yet! We are very excited to make new friends, revisit old ones, and share the magic of theater - both old and new - with everyone along the way.

We hope you will join us!

Although various quantities of limited seating is available at some of the venues - bringing a blanket, cushions, or lawn chairs is strongly advised. Picnics are permitted but none of our venues permit alcoholic beverages to be brought onto the premises.

Alternate indoor performance space is available for all performance dates EXCEPT*

Sat. 07/05 and Sat. 07/12. We make every attempt to avoid canceling any performance, as rescheduling is impossible, but should either of those two dates meet with seriously inclement weather, possibility does exist that the safety of both patrons and actors may require us to cancel prior to starting or even mid performance should a light drizzle become a downpour. Repeat after me; “It Will Not Rain. It Will Not Rain. It Will Not...”
